Dear friends of Heart in Africa
We are delighted to look back with you on a successful third year for the association. We would also like to give you a small preview of what we have planned for the current year.
our third association year
Review of the year 2022
Africa calendar
In spring, we are still questioning whether we want to produce an Africa calendar again this year. An already packed private diary means that we are leaning towards taking a break from the calendar for a year.
Visible traces of the pandemic and the Ukraine war with the resulting cost explosions and famine in many African countries, encounters with people in need on our trip to Africa as well as new major challenges in our heartfelt project, the “Nice View” children’s village, touch our hearts deeply.
All of this, as well as requests from friends and acquaintances regarding our Africa calendar, ultimately prompted us to produce a charity Africa calendar again this year and to donate the net proceeds to our heart project – the “Nice View” children’s village in Kenya.
So we are once again designing an Africa wall calendar as well as a new edition of our popular table calendars. Africa wall calendar as well as a new edition of our popular desk calendars.
The great success with calendar sales (our wall calendars are sold out, timeless table calendars are still available) and the many positive feedbacks are the reason for this decision.
Preparing for the Christmas sale - our colorful, quirky birds
We would like to participate in Christmas markets again during the Advent season. This year, we will be focusing on our “colorful, quirky clay birds” and we started preparations back in the summer: We are busy pottering and painting our birds, designing little bowls, making our popular “Angelino” wire angels as well as little bracelets and much more. As always, we can count on many helping hands who actively support us with the preparations.
Kenya trip
In the fall, a private trip will take us to Kenya again and we are really looking forward to seeing the children at Nice View, our sponsored children and the entire Nice View family.
The helpers are busy rebuilding the outdoor kitchen, which burnt down at the beginning of October. burned down at the beginning of burned down at the beginning of October.
The time with the children is wonderful again and goes by far too quickly. We laugh a lot, watch them do their homework and also get to enjoy some amusing singing, drumming and dancing 😃
Finally, we go on a shopping spree for our webshop in Nice View’s own tailor shop and workshop. The fabric bags (shoppers, toiletry bags, make-up bags or Krims-Krams bags) in beautiful African colors and patterns as well as wooden soap dishes are now available in our web store available.
We have also ordered African paintings from the talented young artist Kahindi (who grew up in Nice View) from Switzerland. We are delighted to be able to receive the pictures from him in person. When you see how Kahindi is now standing on his own two feet and has prospects for the future, you can be proud of the Nice View project. Some pictures of Kahindi are available in our web store and of course we are also happy to accept order inquiries.
Christmas markets
An atmospherically decorated Christmas market and cheerful market visitors make for joyful, unforgettable days.
As hoped, our “colorful weird birds” are a hit – they are a real eye-catcher and attract many visitors to our stand. It’s also nice to meet lots of people who know us from last year and come back to talk to us. Of course, we are also delighted to have so many friends and acquaintances visit us again.
Growth and awareness - Donation Nice View
We are delighted and also a little proud to see that our association is becoming increasingly popular and that we are growing steadily. In addition to numerous very generous contributions and donations, we are particularly pleased that we were also able to increase the number of patrons of Heart in Africa.
In January, we were therefore able to transfer the wonderful sum of EUR 13,000.00 to our heartfelt project “Nice View Children’s Village” in Kenya. The joy and gratitude at Nice View was immense.
The amount is made up of our traditional calendar sales,
our sales activities at Christmas markets and in the webshop as well as donations/patron contributions – we had a very pleasing year for us and of course we will continue!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support and loyalty. Asante Sana!
Let's keep going - we're counting on you
